March update!

March was a BIG month for Feeding Villages! Take a look at what we’ve accomplished!

  • On March 31st, our team in Uganda distributed 100 kgs of rice, 50 kgs of beans, and 50 kgs of peanuts to over 45 families! Since we’ve began Feeding Villages, we’ve given nearly 1000 kgs of food and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
  • We distributed 480 fresh eggs to pregnant women and families with young children. Not only do adults and kids love the taste eggs, they are among the most nutritious foods on the planet, containing high-quality protein, fats, and essential vitamins and minerals. We plan to make eggs a staple item in our donation kits moving forward!
  • We have a meeting scheduled in April with local primary school administrators to finalize the demo garden site and determine a construction date. We will invite a local agronomist to come test soil quality, determine an appropriate mix of crops, and craft an irrigation system.
  • In the same meeting with school administrators, we plan to discuss a school breakfast and lunch program. As of now, there is no such program in place where every child is guaranteed a meal. Most children in Nangunga come to school without having eaten breakfast and do not eat lunch unless their parents provide them the funds to do so. Studies show that children who go to school hungry may suffer an inability to concentrate and often fall behind academically. Hungry kids are more likely to miss school because of illness, disrupt class, and develop behavioral problems as teenagers.
